A Festive Community Scavenger Hunt Around North Manchester

This December, Peabody Retirement Community added a little extra magic to the holiday season with a fun, interactive Elf on the Shelf–style scavenger hunt that brought smiles, laughter, and community spirit all across North Manchester.

From December 1 through December 12, our mischievous little elf — Elfy B. Peabody — was officially on the loose! Each business day, Elfy popped up in a new local spot, and the challenge was on: find Elfy, snap a photo, and follow the clues shared daily on our Facebook page.

Every successful find earned participants another entry toward winning a festive prize — a Walmart gift card, just in time for the holidays.

Following Elfy’s Holiday Adventures

Elfy didn’t make it easy! His daily clues sent the community on a playful journey through town, encouraging residents and neighbors to explore local businesses and landmarks.
Day 1: Elfy kicked off his adventure fueling up for the journey ahead — hinting at a tasty stop before the fun really began.
Day 2: Despite some BEEFY snow drifts, Elfy powered through to his next location, proving no weather could slow him down.
Day 3: Feeling especially festive, Elfy headed down Main Street for some Christmas shopping — and reminded everyone that photos were a must!
Day 4: His shopping spree continued at a one-stop shop filled with baked goods and gifts (because what elf could resist?).
Day 5: After getting a little messy, Elfy decided to treat himself to a “spa day”… only to learn it wasn’t exactly elf-friendly 😅
Day 7 and beyond: From boot scootin’ adventures to discovering shops that sadly didn’t carry elf sizes, Elfy kept everyone guessing and laughing.
Each clue required participants to visit the location in person, take a new photo of Elfy, and text it in — making the hunt interactive, engaging, and truly community-driven.
