Peabody Celebrates National Nursing Home Week

Pet-Friendly Peabody Retirement Community Celebrates National Nursing Home Week with Activities Benefitting Wabash County Animal Shelter

North Manchester, Indiana  (May 5, 2015) – In honor of National Nursing Home Week, pet-friendly Peabody Retirement Community is collecting donations for Wabash County Animal Shelter. Everything from puppy food to cat litter will be collected Sunday, May 8 through Saturday, May 14 to benefit the county’s neediest furry friends.

“Many of our residents are pet-lovers. In fact, there are quite a few lucky dogs and cats living at Peabody,” says Peabody Executive Director Rod Craft. “So our staff and residents want to help out the team at Wabash County Animal Shelter by contributing a whole list of needed donation items to benefit the area’s less-fortunate animals.”

The benefit drive is just one of the many events planned at Peabody in honor of the national week-long celebration. “We officially kicked off activities Monday morning with juice, coffee, and pastries,” Craft says. “But the fun continues all week for residents and staff.”

Tuesday through Friday, the 50s and 60s will officially make a comeback at Peabody.

Throwback Tuesday offers residents and staff an opportunity to step out in their favorite poodle skirts and beehive hairdos and pose in a photo booth for pictures. Later in the week, there will be a Rock & Roll Remix of musical entertainment, the return of the Soda Shop with root beer floats, plus other snacks, toys, and games from those good old happy days.

In a final appeal for pets in search of good homes, on Friday morning, Wabash County Animal Shelter will bring a few four-legged visitors to Peabody. Residents, staff, and pets will have an opportunity to share some love in honor of all the donations collected during the week-long supplies drive.
